WHAT IS PORCELAIN COUNTERTOP?

The evolution process of porcelain, which dates back to the years before Christ and shapes art all over the world with its production as a plate, continues.Kiln-fired ceramic dishes have been found from the Eastern Han Dynasty in China, but porcelain, as we know it today, began to be produced in China's Tang Dynasty in the early years of the AD.Although production first started with porcelain slabs, the widespread use of tea led to the use of porcelain for more beautiful and durable tea sets. The use of porcelain, which is formed by firing China clay (kaolin) and Petunse at temperatures above 1300 °C and looks glassy and transparent unlike pottery, has also become widespread among ornaments such as vases.Porcelain became popular and its exports began to increase as a result of the Tang Dynasty's trade with the Western world via the Northern Silk Road and sea routes. Not only as tea sets and vases, but also as porcelain vessels, they became valuable in Muslim countries, and during the reigns of empires such as the Ottoman Empire, they were personalized and turned into a symbol of power. With the arrival of cobalt from the Middle East, blue colors were mixed with white porcelain, and "blue-white" porcelain objects, the first thing that comes to mind when we think of Chinese porcelain art, maintained their value for many years. Portuguese merchants (primarily Marco Polo) brought porcelain to Europe by sea, sparking a porcelain craze in Europe.Europeans tried to imitate porcelain, which continued to be produced at high quality and low cost, but only after the 1700s. Until then, porcelain was considered as "white gold" and sold at very high prices as rare antiques and art objects. Even the whealthiest people of the period, merchants and monarchs benefited from the art of porcelain by placing special orders. Although the evolution of porcelain continued at different times, even in countries such as Italy and France, where it was named "porcelain", Chinese porcelain has made its mark in history by being found everywhere and at all times. The durability of porcelain, along with its relative cheapness, has allowed countries to easily reflect their own artistic styles. Japanese artists preferred to emphasize simplicity with aesthetics, while Italians created their own design lines with brighter and more vibrant colors.

The journey of porcelain, which started with an object, has not ended and has taken its place in our homes not only as an ornament but also as the best countertop indoors and outdoors. Porcelain kitchen and bathroom countertops, with their strength and attractiveness, easily match with every style and allow to create new styles. In Europe, after Germany, porcelain has become a passion, rising the most in Italy and taking its place in plates, tea and coffee sets with vibrant colors and embossed embroideries.
